Remembering Marianne Andrews

   WAFCS lost one of its members this week. Marianne Andrews passed away on Wednesday, January 5, in Tucson, Arizona. Marianne, age 100, worked for the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction for many years. She had been the Historian for WAFCS longer than most of us can remember.
   There will be a memorial gathering in her honor on Saturday, January 15th 3:00 p.m., at the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation facility, 2300 East End Street NW, Olympia. Everyone is invited to share memories and stories of Marianne.
     For those of us who cannot attend, please post your stories and condolences here, on our Facebook page, or email them to me at wafcspid@msn.com. They will be collected before the service on the 15th and sent to her surviving relatives and friends to share with others. A fitting tribute to a member who lived her life to the fullest right until the very end. DCG

Washington Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Takes a Technological Leap

The Washington Affiliate is making a forward leap into the technological world in 2011. Until a year ago, Facebook, Blogging, Twitter, and Social Media were words filed in the "deal with it later" tab on my computer. However, as with everything, the more you know, the better you understand and use it. Electronic communication has become a staple in our association. Our membership resides in all four corners of the state and so face-to-face communication is confined to two times a year. Taking the technology leap is a big step for us.
